Age of Aquarius

Many of us have heard about world changes for a long time now, connected to 2012 and various ancient prophecies. All kinds of different writers have been picking up on this now, in recent years. As we get closer to 2012 the amount of products addressing this issue increases. A high-budget Hollywood film of that title has recently posted its trailer on the web, with glossy graphics of a Tibetan monk high in the Himalayas ringing the bell to sound the end of the world, while the mother of all tsunamis begins to crash over the snow-covered peaks. Strong visuals, with an undercurrent of fear and apocalypse.
What are we to make of the real changes of our time?
What's it all heading toward?
What's being asked of us on a deeper level?
Everybody alive now has agreed to participate in the changing of the guard. The 2,100 year-long Age of Pisces is ending. Many astrologers consider 2012 to be the start of the Age of Aquarius. In the Age of Pisces, mysticism and emotion ruled. The welfare of the many was controlled in the hands of the few. Priests, kings and rabbis presided over the physical and spiritual welfare of the masses.
Aquarius is the new 2,100 year-long period designed to awaken the collective to its own power. Mystics and visionaries through the ages have long told us that the power to change the world is buried within each of us. Since the time of Christ that power has largely been sleeping. In recent centuries we somehow got roped into living a great lie. A great shutdown state has prevailed, growing stronger with the onslaught of western civilization and American capitalism.
Hyper-commercial ways of being proliferated at the expense of soul. This way of being became so dominant in the last part of the 20th Century that it infiltrated the way we eat, breathe, think, love, raise children, live, and die. As far as I can tell, the apocalypse predicted by certain ancient cultures has already occurred-that's the main fact missed by big-budget end-of-world 2012 doom-and-gloom scenarios. We don't need some kind of mass disaster-the disaster occurred in a more real way, slowly, bit by bit, and each of us was a part of it.
Every time you betray your truth to fit into a broken world-you create a disaster waiting to happen. Every time you depart from the clear, clean line of your optimal destiny, and choose to bide time in the modern treadmill of using your life's blood to earn money in order to support your lifestyle of earning money in order to support your lifestyle-you create a mini personal cataclysm of the soul. You not only make a choice to elevate false security at the expense of inner peace, but you also become a role model for those same values.
For this underlying paradigm to change, it's crucial that each of us make a courageous stand of choosing to use our lives for something more than keep the World Machine well-lubricated at the cost of our dreams.
Let's just admit it once and for all, okay-the disaster has already happened. We settled for a false world of lies and conditioning. We've been supporting a nightmare. The fact that the nightmare often didn't look like a nightmare only indicates how far we strayed from an ability to perceive the underlying truth.
Now, as the much-predicted time of 2012 nears, we all have a massive opportunity to change ourselves from within, by aligning with cosmic forces attempting to change our world from on high. If the ancients were correct, and our planet is actually undergoing one of its all-time major turning points, then it's time to turn within. It's time to turn our lives into journeys of open-ended adventure rather than mediocre security. It's time to transform our love relationships to blazing excursions into the soul of sexuality. It's time to show our children the world hidden inside the world, where no group of people is better or worse than another, and we all incarnated in order to achieve some unique soul-level purpose that only we can do. In so doing, we'll bring on Aquarius.
