Pluto Retrograde: You are Here
Tuesday April 6, 2010
After Pluto's long transit through deep earth Capricorn, we'll have remembered where we are -- on Earth. Often Pluto forces us to learn things through trauma and loss. Every day, we hear terrifying news about the planet being overexploited -- a Plutonian word for sure. This morning, I saw that traditional ayurvedic medicine faces an uncertain certain future, as up to 93 percent of the wild plants used are facing extinction (another Plutonian word).
Pluto stations to go retrograde today (at 7:34 pm Pacific), which can bring intensity or earth-shaking events. The thing about Pluto is that it conveys through the sign it inhabits a rough, even brutal message, something like, "You get it now?!"
What happens with a retrograde of a major slow-moving planet in its sign -- like Pluto in Capricorn? Pluto is like a mercy-killer. It puts what's dying out of its misery, to make way for the rebirth. Lately, we're seeing the extremes of behavior that happen in a society that's serving an agenda other than Life itself. Just like facing an abusive situation, Pluto forces us to find the courage to face terrifyingly destructive forces. And in this case (Pluto Capricorn), these forces are so deeply ingrained in how we live our lives. There is fierce resistance to losing the "lifestyle we've become accustomed to." That's why Pluto is serving up such strong medicine.
This weekend, I'm going to hear Barbara Marciniak speak in Asheville. In her book, Earth, she channels (via the Pleiadians), that the planet houses a Living Library with ancient wisdom to discover. It takes patience to tune into the deeper rhythms of nature. I've heard different indigenous shamans say the key to our survival is growing closer to those rhythms. And we have an ally in Pluto (in Capricorn), to uncover who we really are. To re-discover the natural self, and the incredible Living Library humming with life all around us.
