| Molly Hall About.com Finding Your Strength Thursday September 16, 2010 The other day, we saved a rhino beetle that was flipped over on his back, in the middle of the road. Virgo man knew the random factoid that male horned dung beetles -- aptly named -- Onthophagus taurus -- can pull over a thousand times their own body weight. They've been named the World's Strongest Insect. It's a Capricorn Moon, and timely for talking about strength, and finding our personal power. There's so much about modern life that encourages passivity, dependence, following the path of least resistance. But those with a heavy Cappy influence in their charts, push against great odds, and in doing so, gain character and become confident in their own authority. Since Pluto is in Capricorn, there's an evolutionary imperative for humanity to explore power, and how it impacts the landscapes of the Earth. We are seeing a lot of destruction, the dark side of Pluto. What kind of power hierarchies control the Earth, and what is their agenda for humanity? What is the best path of action for a person of conscience, who is very eager to strive for the highest human values? What can one person do in a time like this? The astrologer Mahala Gayle writes that now is a good time for preparing, for a major turning point. "On November 2, 2010 the north node will be conjunct Pluto, which is considered the God of the Underworld, or the transformation God. Will you be transformed by the time this aspect happens?" That kind of aspect makes me think of the native purification prophecies for this time. The North Node in astrology signifies the pathway forward, and Pluto's conjunction there could mean there's a leap of consciousness around that time. Serendipitously, I came across an inspiring video called, The Awakening that gets into "powers that be," and how entrenched power is reacting to the shifts of frequency we're going through. Though it doesn't shrink from looking at frightful realities -- similar to the movie Zeitgeist -- there's an emphatic message that each of us holds the power. By design, the narrator Max Igan says, we've become dumbed down, distracted by superficialities, hypnotized and drained of our physical vitality. We're like beetles on our backs, not able to show off our true power. I was reminded by Shelley Ackerman recently that Pluto rules masks, and we see now an unmasking of power. It's a very auspicious time, when humanity is remembering its own ancient power, even as the veil falls. That another vision for the world is also taking shape, that emerges from humanity's awakening. A first step is starting with ourselves, and becoming as strong mentally, physically, morally and spiritually as we can. Molly Hall About.com A Time of Purification Saturday June 12, 2010
America is dying from within, because the instructions for how to live on Earth have been forgotten, says Sioux elder Floyd Red Crow Westerman. And if the waters are corrupted -- as we're seeing now -- there will be a reaction from Earth. There's wisdom here to draw from, with America in its Pluto return -- a time of death and rebirth -- and Pluto in deep Earth Capricorn.
If you think about Pluto as the extreme purifier, it's significant that the Hopi and others talk of this as the time of purification. There's a shudder thinking of it, as it hints at being forced to change our ways -- what we already know, but are struggling to put into practice. The indigenous wisdom of living lightly while on the Earth, in interdependent communities, and respecting nature and all life as sacred, has that core message. We're being stripped of what's ungrounded us, and created false realities that don't support Earth, only take from it.
In her book Deep Cinema: Film as Shamanic Initiation, Mary Trainor-Brigham talks about how what she calls the mutant Marketplace has overtaken Nature and ungrounded us. She writes, "One way we can bear this distinction in mind is to think of the origins of Wall Street. This raucous, sometimes cut-throat, modern-day signifier of economic fortunes was named after the barricade the Dutch settlers used as a divide from Indigenous Lenape natives."
Floyd Red Crow Westerman says they were told as a tribe "that we would see America come and go." It's timely that he talks of the water, and how we're mostly water, and to stay healthy, we need to drink good water. He says, "When the Europeans first came here, Columbus, we could drink out of any river. If the Europeans had lived the Indian way when they came, we'd still be drinking out of the waters."
But this is not an "end is near" message, just that great evolution of the Earth is upon us. The Gulf disaster could be an extinction level event, and here we look to those that were nearly extinguished themselves -- the first peoples of America. I sense this, as a big theme now, that we all are facing survival fears, which can be a moment of spiritual epiphany. If we go through those fears, we can emerge knowing there's more to what we see in 3D, and a spirit world where we rest before going on. Says Westerman, "There is never something like the end. Like life, there is no end to life."

| An interesting sideline to these two posts is that it has been said that humanity is awakening...now if you consider this to mean that so far we have been in a state similar to sleep then so far humanity has only been able to dream of a better future. What are dreams? Aren't they thoughts below our waking consciousness that surface to more tangible level while our physical body rests? So if we are now awakening -with our dreams of a better world in tact - then wouldn't those dreams enter our waking consciousness as thoughts? And don't thoughts create reality? So even the most unconvinced atheist who wishes the world could be different possesses the power to do something about it. We all have the power to influence reality in this world through our thoughts. And yet we are largely unaware of this power. We think 'it can't get better' or 'I don't know what to do' and these are the thoughts shaping our world. Imagine what might happen if we were to think 'how beautiful the ocean looks when it is clean' or 'I feel good when I smile so I'm gonna smile at everyone I meet today'. Try it out! Use your power to make the changes you want to see. | |
