As we're drawn into the dark of the Moon, the trickster shows us how the parts of the puzzle can be rearranged to form new pictures. And that the narrative that describes our world, in any media venue, is just one way of putting the pieces together. You may juggle them and find a different pattern of meaning.

As a social sign, Gemini is about the bits of story we tell others, from friends to neighbors, about current events or personal situations. It's how we make sense of our world, at the local and global level. When Gemini encounters paradox and puzzles, there can be a synthesis that elevates us to a unity or fusion of opposites. This New Moon in Gemini allows us to step through the fog of conflicting information together, and begin to see with greater clarity.


The Sun and Moon together in Gemini heighten our own ability to adapt and "change our minds." In a time of great change, like today, having a flexible mind allows us to change as new info comes in. And the New Moon is a symbolic new beginning for how we deal with a world whose structures are breaking apart. Taking the curious view of the magician, that all things change, helps us deal with the anxiety of not knowing what's going on.

It's an air sign that seeks total intellectual freedom and inspires a fascination with numbers, synchronicity, and the patterns of meaning all around us. The planets in Aquarius invite us to rise above the confusion by seeking out humanitarian ideas in synch with the higher mind (Jupiter) and desire to commune with spirit (Neptune). In Ancient Greece, Jupiter ruled the public discourse, in areas of law, education, religion, in order to keep the collective eyes on the higher prize. In the same way, the planets in Aquarius can guide all the fact-finding of Gemini toward ideals of compassion, human dignity and individual freedom.

We all know that we're targeted to some degree by advertising and "spin." In an interview on Conscious Media Network, author Steven Jacobson says Americans are under siege by "below the radar" mind control. This New Moon offers a chance to identify and free ourselves from any outside influences. Re-claiming our minds allows us to ride higher collective waves available today, and rise above the damaging ones.

The greatest gift you can give yourself is the reclaiming of your mind. You'll know your mind is your own when you can hear your higher self loud and clear. You have mental sovereignty when you are not threatened by someone else's ideas. And when you trust yourself not to be pulled down dark mental trapdoors. What mental grooves are we stuck in with the television and computer, and how can re-anchor ourselves in "real life."

The luminaries in Gemini are squaring the Aquarius planets, even though they're both air signs. The tension there sets the stage for a quantum leap out of the chaos and confusion we've been living with to for many years now. I'm talking about the invasion of public space by media and the cell phone, conflicting information, the divide and conquer political fights and the doublespeak that is crazymaking. It's time for a miracle of the mind that elevates us, so we see from higher vantage points. And this New Moon opens the doors of the mind, so we can travel upward. The air is fresher up there, and we can make healthier decisions, both personally and as people on the Earth.

This New Moon is excellent for releasing rigid ways of thinking. Just ask for a breakthrough, and find ways to quiet the monkey mind so you can get to the good stuff. Since thought forms are things, this is serious business, and not just a mind experiment. This is a New Moon to reclaim our direct relationship to life and our world, and step into a new, freer way of being.
