New Moon Cancer
Coming Home
By Molly Hall, About.com
The emotional sensitivity of watery Cancer allows us to feel our own soulful depths. With the Sun and Moon aligned, we go deep into our personal history, memories, family ties...the impressions of the heart. The resonance of Cancer says relax, surrender to the cool healing waters, be "mothered" by a higher force and let the tears flow if you need to. It's a time to rest and treat yourself with tenderness. And it's incredibly psychic, so open up to visioning, dreams and the creative imagination.
This new Moon could prove to be a powerful turning point. With the Sun-Moon in Cancer, the homesickness many of us feel is heightened. Cancer represents the desire to belong, to feel safe and profoundly care for. It takes us into the intimate, subjective interior. We become aware of any unmet emotional needs, or wounds from the past. If we meet the new Moon with unconditional love, we can open to a big release of old baggage. And any intuitive messages show us where we need to change, to let love in, relax more or soften.
The opposition to Pluto in Capricorn makes this new Moon a kind of showdown. Pluto in Capricorn is clearly revealing the dark face of some of our institutions (corporate and government). Take note that when these two align, you get the F-word (fascism), also associated with Pluto. Now that this structure is being challenged so intensely, the players in control are reacting by entrenching even deeper.
But under this new Moon in Cancer, we grow aware of how we suffer from the values of concentrated wealth, the race to the bottom and the "ends justify the means." We see the compulsive, repulsive side of greed and resource-grabbing. It's not hard to see how most of the human family and the Earth herself suffers under what's become extremely unbalanced. Seen in that view, the breakdown underway is a chance to come back home to what makes life worth living.
The Sun-Moon in Cancer brings us back into balance with the truth of the heart. When we're up against it, it's those intimate ties we seek out. The ones that know us truly and deeply. This is a new beginning for love in all its guises, and restoring a sense of human warmth in general. It's a move away from the alienation of every man for himself to the values that we're all in this together.
It's a chance to re-animate home life, so that it becomes a place that nourishes body, mind and spirit. Your home is where you take refuge and refill the emotional well. What kinds of self-soothing can you bring into the picture? What is intruding into your shell or "safe zone.?" How can you create sacred space in your home?
Mars and Venus are in sexy, comfort-loving Taurus. We come home to our senses. We remember earthly pleasures like eating together at the family table or growing a garden. This forms a harmony to Saturn in Virgo. The whole grounded matrix there guides us to balance in the day, with our health, and meeting challenges with integrity. We find out what needs healing, in order to come back home to natural balance.
There are stimulating trines from the Sun-Moon to Neptune, Jupiter and Chiron in Aquarius. If we're looking for 'home,' this harmony aids our ability to find kindred spirits on the same wavelength. It's a catalyst for finding the right resonance with people, for creative projects, collective living situations, or sharing resources.
It's a new Moon that may be dramatic, not unlike the birthing process. Great leaps can happen that bring us together with the right people...those that feel like family. But it's also a time of sensual enjoyment, renewal and delights of the summer season. It's a fruitful time to fall in love with life, the Earth, your soul mates, kids, friends and creative passions.
