We use defence mechanisms in order not to feel the effects of our fears and wounds because they don't feel good at all. And yet what we need to do is to go deeply into them and let them open our heart to reveal the understanding and power that the fear is denying and distorting, and the love that the wounds are suppressing. We need to ask ourselves what we are trying to protect and why.
