Molly Hall About.com

Here is the chart for the Full Moon in Capricorn, exact on June 26th at 7:30 am Eastern U.S., followed by a penumbral (partial) lunar eclipse at 7:38 am EDT.

The Full Moon is a time of when there's a crescendo, a high wave, and it's incredibly rousing. We get loony and passionate. The psychic hits keep coming, and our dreams are as vivid as waking life.

This Full Moon in Capricorn is the first peak of an intense summer series. Here we have 7 planets charged up as part of the grand cross (or square) formation. Hold onto your hats, for this portion of the ride.

In this Corner....

What we've got is a four way tug-of-war, with all the tension that generates. A lot of wise astrologers are giving their two cents on these tensions -- here's a Lunar Eclipse Sampler. I'd like to keep this simple, and offer one insight that came to me by way of astrologer Kevin Burk, author of Understanding the Birth Chart.

There IS a four-sided harmony to the grand cross, though the squares are pulled super taut. That raises the stakes, especially with so much cardinal energy engaged. The squares are a confrontation, that force action, where a third thing is created -- a mash-up of the two.

This Full Moon, there are 12 Squares (!), or volatile tensions that we're restless to resolve. It's not going to happen at once, and we can expect this intensity to continue after the lunar peak. But on finding that core structure, Kevin Burk writes that a key is looking to the oppositions. "When the opposing planets are balanced, then they are exerting the same amount of pressure on the planets that square, creating a solid foundation. When the oppositions are out of balance, however, the structure cannot hold, and the squares take center stage again."

Resources and the Source

So, to keep this theme going, let's look at the oppositions. The Full Moon and Pluto are together in Capricorn, suggesting that much will be un-earthed. This combo of gives us depth perception into the soulful heart of what ails the planet and ourselves. What we're finding out with the Gulf Oil Disaster, is that it's starting to be the same thing.

We're able to see with our ancient eyes, some of the shadowy caves and caverns of humanity. This could be a spooky, disturbing, mysterious and authentically grounding time. At the lunar eclipse, it's the end of an era, and events may happen that bring that Home.

Speaking of home, the Moon-Pluto duo in Capricorn are positioned opposite the Sun-Mercury in Cancer. What's brought out from the shadows and deeply felt, evokes a very strong emotional response. We're led by the anguish of the heart to speak up for life in distress. As we use our voices, they grow stronger, and we re-invigorate (Sun Cancer) the values of care, compassion, protection for the vulnerable.

To sum up, as dirty secrets come to light, we're challenged to be compassionate, yet firm in our demands. The same is true in our personal lives. We unlock the shadow side of our own lives, and we find balance if we're forgiving of ourselves, without falling into self-pity.

Some ideas for balance:

•Acting on your sensitivity, and using it as a strength.
•Moving people to believe that society can change, by appealing to their hearts.
•Looking at your fear of "The Man" in its many guises, and meet it with heart-centered power.
•Cultivating soul force, in groups and alone, as a counter to harsh, power or greed-driven situations.
•Balancing home and family life, with the intense drives of career.
•Looking at ways of achieving security, both emotionally and materially.

Freedom and Responsibility

The other opposition is between wild and forceful Uranus-Jupiter in Aries and Saturn in Virgo. This opposition helps us balance the exuberance of Big Bold new ideas, with the realities on the ground. If we're looking at a leap of faith (Uranus-Jupiter), the Saturn side asks us not to shirk our meaningful responsibilities. It's balancing high spirits with the integrity of Saturn.

Saturn's sober view helps us mind the gap before we step off the platform. Saturn in Virgo pesters us about health and staying in a daily routine we know keeps us sane. This is a balance to the manic and fired up energies of Uranus-Jupiter Aries.

Some ideas for balance:

•Finding the right structure for your original idea.
•Keeping a handle on details, alongside sweeping visions.
•Maintaining situational awareness, as you move into unfamiliar territory.
•Discernment when asked to follow this new plan or leader (does it add up?)
•Finding productive outlets for any anger, or even rage -- perhaps a discipline like a martial art.
•Devote those surges of energy in service of something worthy -- a cause, bettering the lives of people or animals, being helpful, easing someone's pain.
