Taylor Swift gets played alot in my house, along with Miley Cyrus and the JoBros. Disney channel is on constantly lol.
Gotta say Kings of Leon are very listenable. I love their song called "Knocked Up'. It always puts me in the mood to write. There is a deeper undertone to their music isn't there Solane? Something beyond the surface that grabs your attention...

The Kings of Leon, how coincidental, I could here Miley doing a song written by Leon Russel and covering some of the old songs of Karen C. remember the little drummer girl???

My new favourite song... 11th Dimension by Julian Casablancas! I always loved The Strokes, but he's now just REALLY awesome on his solo stuff.

Hi Gem,
That has a great sound, now what were the words that he was singing? I need to pay more attention to those lyrics or maybe listen a couple of more times to get the linguistic flare smoothed out.
I wonder if the lyrics are posted somewhere?
Good stuff...

Isn't it awesome! Unfortunately that cilp was removed, but here's another one:
I was wondering about the lyrics too, so here they are...
I just nod, I've never been so good at shaking hands I live on the frozen surface of a fireball Where cities come together, to hate each other in the name of sport America, nothing is ever just how you plan I looked up to you but you thought I would look the other way
And you hear, what you want to hear And they take what they want to take Don't be sad, won't ever happen like this anymore So whens it coming? This life's new great movement that I can join The warning here Your faith has got to be greater than your fear
Forgive them even if they are not sorry All the vultures, bootleggers at the door waiting Your are looking for your own voice, but your nervous While it leaves you trapped in another dimension
Drop your guard, you don't have to be smart all of the time I got a mind full of blanks I need to go somewhere new fast And don't be shy, oh no, at least deliberately No one really cares or wanders why anymore Oh I got music, coming outta my hands and feet and kisses That is how it once was done All the dreamers on the run
Forgive them even if they are not sorry All the vultures, bootleggers at the door waiting Were so quick to point out our own flaws in others Complicated, man was on the wings of robots If you believe in this world your not inviting me But don't think that yet, to the top, now know what to do
Wow... I must say that I very much like these lyrics! Seems like his songs are a lot deeper now. I also happen to love that image of "I got music coming outta my hands and feet and kisses"... cosmic!

Lady Gaga - believe it or not!! LOL. I have been in such a disco mood lately. Also loving La Roux's sound cos she is so retro/electronica 80s. And two Aussie hip hop bands that have me enthralled are Hilltop hoods and Bliss and Eso.

I've rediscovered an old favourite... Rufus Wainwright!
And I think this next video is fantastic, despite the fact that it's an amateur vid and that Rufus burps into the microphone and has to start the song again! His voice and the sound of his music really resonate with me.
I played this song for a lady at my work, intuiting that she would like it, and when it was playing she came to ask me who it was because she loved it and she said that the sound of his voice was vibrating in her chest!

" Twelve Days of Christmas" signify?
What the lyrics of the Christmas Carol " Twelve Days of Christmas" signify? If the lyrics have always baffled you as to what in the world leaping lords, French hens, swimming swans, and especially the partridge who won't come out of the pear tree have to do with Christmas - Here is the answer:
From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were
not permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone
during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics..
It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning
plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their church. Each
element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality
which the children could remember.
-The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ..
-Two turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments.
-Three French hens stood for faith, hope and love.
-The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John.
-The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament.
-The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation.
-Seven swans a-swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit--Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership, and Mercy.
-The eight maids a-milking were the eight beatitudes.
-Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit--Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness,
Gentleness, and Self Control.
-The ten lords a-leaping were the ten commandments.
-The eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples.
-The twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in the Apostles' Creed.
So there is your history for today. This knowledge was shared with me and I found it interesting and enlightening and now I know how that strange song became a Christmas Carol...so pass it on if you wish.'
Merry (Twelve Days of) Christmas Everyone

Some people say I have extremely odd and wide taste in music. I can only agree.
Right now I'm completely hooked on a South African singer, Bok van Blerk, who sings in Afrikaans, a South African variation of Dutch, which is spoken by the Boers of South Africa. They've been treated pretty shitty in the past, and moreso some say, if you can believe it, since the fall of Apartheid. Anyway, digressing, but Bok van Blerk sings a lot about this stuff.
It, again, deals with white South Africans. Due to the violence in South Africa, very much of it directed against white South Africans in some weird reverted racism, many white South Africans leave their home country and move from Africa. A heart-ripping experience I'm sure, because they consider themselves white Africans, not Europeans. Anyway, that's what this song is about. It's a really beautiful video, so do enjoy.

Retro girl in da housssssse! I am listening to HOWARD JONES!!! Loving all those early synth sounds and digital beats. Also been listening to ABBA (Oh yes I did - I went there! lol). Some absolutely amazing synchronicities tying into both these artists and the songs I have been listening to. It is like coming full circle and being able to see what it all means. Ahhhh, now I can relax and enjoy the journey
Howard Jones — New Song
I've been waiting for so long To come here now and sing this song Don't be fooled by what you see Don't be fooled by what you hear
This is a song to all my friends They take the challenge to their hearts Challenging preconceived ideas Saying goodbye to long standing fears
Don't crack up Bend your brain See both sides Throw off your mental chains
I don't wanna be hip and cool I don't wanna play by the rules Not under the thumb of the cynical few Or laden down by the doom crew
