On a summer day or early evening, a beautiful sight to behold is the dragonfly. Dragonfly has the ability to reflect and refract light and colours. It is often linked with magic and mysticism. With their shimmering wings and delicate form, they appear to come directly from the land of Faerie. Their spectacular colours shine with iridescence in the sunlight. These colours take time to develop, giving the idea that with maturity our own true colours come forth. Just as light can bend and shift and be adapted in a different ways, so can the archetypal forces associated with dragonfly. Dragonfly yields the message that life is never what it appears to be. This is a power animal which can help to put us in touch with nature spirits.

Dragonfly is one of nature's shape shifters. The dragonfly inhabits two realms, air and water. The first two years of their life dragonflies live in the water, on the bottom of ponds and streams, and are called nymphs. As they age they go through metamorphosis and take to the air. As water represents the emotional body and air represents the mental, those with this power animal will frequently find themselves trying to maintain balance between their thoughts and emotions.

Children with dragonfly power animal are often very emotional, feeling things deeply and responding to situations with great passion. Generally, as they reach adulthood, through experience, they learn how to balance their emotions with greater mental clarity and control. This gives them the compassion required for any type of work relating to healing or counselling.

If you find yourself flooded by emotion and would like nothing more than some detachment from your problems so that you can solve them, Dragonfly entering your world will be a blessing. For in this context Dragonfly represents transformation. You can work with the dragonfly to help you kick-start the changes you know are necessary, but have been avoiding or neglecting. The number 2 is significant to Dragonfly, so think in terms of two-year periods when you begin a change.

When we have made ourselves believe that the limitations of physical existence prevent us from changing and growing, Dragonfly medicine teaches us to pierce our self-made illusions. Dragonfly can cause us to question the illusion which we call reality, particularly that part of our realities which hinders our ability to grow and create transformation/change in our lives. Dragonfly conveys knowledge about greater dimensions of reality, and helps us travel to a realm of light and colour in which spiritual expansion is possible.

Neither insects or birds have the flight manoeuvrability of the dragonfly. They can twist, turn, move up or down, change directions in an instant, hover and even fly backwards. If dragonfly is your power animal, this will bring the gift of skill to your life. Dragonflies are masters at what they do, and they do it relentlessly.

Dragonflies can reach speeds of up to 30 miles per hour when flying. They can spot movement forty feet away. Flying around and into things from different angles, they challenge rigid awareness and prompt the energy of change. This power animal is especially helpful for those who feel stuck, or are unable to grow spiritually and for those who feel blocked in their creativity. Dragonfly helps us remember that 'ordinary, every day' physical reality isn't all that is available to us. Its rainbow wings remind us we live in a world of magic.

Everytime I see a dragonfly I feel like it is observing and gathering information. I get the distinct impression that they watch us (humans) almost as if they are reporting what they see to someone (something) somewhere else. It is never a negative feeling, I pick up an energy of curiosity from them.

There are many types of Hawks found throughout the world and each has medicine specific to their individual types. Yet there also characteristics that are specific to all Hawks and those are the focus here.

Hawks are visionaries and messengers. As a totem they help to open the higher chakras so that we may hear and see the visions and messages that Spirit and the Universe are always sending our way. There is never a moment when the Universe is not trying to get a message through to us but we are so often too busy or unaware of what it is we need to be watching for! Hawk helps us to not only be aware that we are receiving a message but how to interpret them. The realm of symbols is also the realm of Hawk for Hawk is able to soar high above the earth to soar on the breath of Spirit, to commune with Spirit and thus understand through the intuitive level what the message means and with their keen eyesight, how to implement it once they return to earth through seeing the broader picture below.
Many of the messages Hawk may bring are about freeing yourself of thoughts and beliefs that are limiting your ability to soar above your life and gain a greater perspective. If one remains earthbound, then the possibilities of life are limited! It is this ability to soar high above to catch a glimpse of the bigger picture that is one of the aspects of Hawk medicine that makes it so valuable: If one is undergoing a difficult passage to know that just over the next hill is freedom and liberation if one keeps going can be a Godsend in supporting the person to keep moving forward! Hawk can alert us to those times when we should NOT take action because we do not yet have all the information we need. Sometimes the person finds that Hawk was telling them to steer clear for very good reasons!
Hawk can also help balance those who are more attuned to the lunar sides of their nature and have trouble expressing the solar side in pursuit of their goals. It helps the person to activate the positive aspects of their sun sign and to balance it with the lunar needs.

Hawk people have their own unique challenges in life. Often they feel misunderstood in that when they attempt to deliver an important message others may shy away from it or respond with anger. Sometimes the messages may not be what the other person really wants to hear and yet the Hawk person feels duty bound to relay the message, no matter the consequences. It is important however that Hawk people do be aware of how they are presenting the messages they receive. They need more than many others to try and deliver the messages as gently as they can, only becoming more forceful if their inner guidance absolutely says it is needed. Sometimes simply thinking through for a time what needs to be said can help Hawk medicine people find just the right words to use that will make all the difference and in this they should be encouraged to take their time and soar above for a while before speaking their truth.
Hawk medicine people like many who carry strong predator totems may be shunned by others who sense and fear their inner power. Others may sense that this is a person who can see straight through them and as many folks think in terms of judging things as being good or bad, they are afraid that the Hawk person will see who they "really" are and so they strike first in an attempt to keep the Hawk person at bay. Hawk people need to learn how to veil their energy somewhat, not as an attempt to deceive others but to allow people to get to know them and understand that Hawk has no interest in judging others. Often these people have seen so much of the best and worst in life that they find they have no need to judge. All is part and parcel of Spirit's plan and if Spirit sees fit not to judge, why should the Hawk person?

Some Hawk people may have a tendency because of their vast ability to see clear through to the heart of things to become arrogant and this should be avoided because it keeps them earthbound as well as turning other people off! Often this starts as confusion on the part of the Hawk person who cannot understand why others seem unable to be as aware of the larger picture and their own issues and projections. Especially when the Hawk person also has Mercury in Aquarius or in Mercury in aspect to Uranus which further enhances their ability to see and know, they may fail to understand that others are not as well developed yet in these areas and blurt out what they see and know without thinking of how it may impact another person. If they can keep in mind that their talents and abilities are gifts they have been given and that others carry medicine that the Hawk person may be weak in expressing it helps them to stay focused on Spirit as the true messenger and that they are the Hollow Bones for the energy to flow through. No totem is better than another! Each is part of the larger tapestry and as such all are powerful and important.

Some with Hawk medicine find they have difficulty attracting the "right life Partner". Hawk people may find that they tend to attract more "earthy" types who find the Hawk person's need to "soar" disruptive or unimportant. This may occur because at a deeper level the Hawk person is fearful of soaring too high and crashing to earth Icarus like. In this instance, the Hawk person's real issue is one of learning how to trust themselves and their medicine. Hawk people can pair well with more earth centered people because the earthy person can encourage the Hawk person to stay on earth long enough to bring some of their visions and ideas to fruition before soaring off to the Heights again. It can be very easy for hawk people to want to stay high above the earth and never bring their wonderful ideas back to earth where they and others can put them practice.
Since Hawks mate for life, the Hawk Person may need to accept that it may take them some time before they find the person meant for them yet when they do, it is well worth the wait! Otherwise the Hawk person may find themselves tied to someone and unable to free themselves easily because of the deep entanglements they have created with this other person. Especially if children are involved in the relationship, the Hawk person may feel an extra strong sense of duty to stay in the relationship for the "sake of the children" as in many cases I have seen where the Hawk person ended up as the sole provider for the family . What the Hawk person needs is someone who can accept and honour their gifts and talents, giving them the space they need to soar high above.

In the Celtic tradition Hawk empowers a person to seek out their ancestral roots and to examine in depth that which is positive so that it may be integrated into the person's life and that which is limiting so it can be released. Tradition is only worth honoring when it supports joy and fulfillment in one's life! In this tradition Hawk also supports the solar side as stated above, helping a person to move forward in life and to seek out great quests to embark upon.

In the Egyptian Tradition Hawk was associated with Magic and shapeshifting. Isis is said to have shapeshifted into a Hawk to save Osiris. Horus also carried Hawk medicine which allowed him to see the "unseeable".

Among Native American traditions, Hawk served the role of Mercury, bringer of messages and portents of change. Hawk reminded the people they needed to be awake and aware.

One of the greatest gifts a Hawk medicine person can give the world is their visions of a better and brighter future. Visionaries are always ahead of their time and it's not easy seeing what others are not ready to see. Often these people are not honoured and recognized for their work and efforts until long after they have crossed over. And yet their work lives on to touch and enrich the lives of people the world over! Honour the Hawk people you meet in your life. Encourage them to soar so they may bring their visions and messages back to earth that all may benefit. If you are a Hawk person yourself, understand that Spirit can you an especial task to hold the energy of what could be, of potentials that are waiting to be envisioned and thus expressed through the mass consciousness. Seek out other Hawk people who can support you in your life and never allow others to cause you to lose sight of what is really important to you! Trust in the messages that Spirit entrusts to your special care and know that the expression of your visions will bring blessings not only to you, but also to all others!

Here is a brief expression of three specific Hawk medicines:

Red Tailed Hawk - An intensified Life force, often those who carry this Hawk medicine have Pluto and Mars strong in the horoscope. These folks are able to achieve great things through persistence and sheer strength of will. This Hawk can also help a person understand and overcome obstacles to prosperity and abundance.

Harris Hawk - represents cooperation and support from others. Libra or Venus may be strong in the horoscope or Venus in Aquarius or in the 11th house. A more Mercurial/Virgo aspect is also prominent with this medicine, also the North Node in Virgo or the 11th house. This Hawk helps one to spread the word about goals or projects to those people who can be helpful for you. For those who use music to help them soar high above, this is a wonderful totem to be working with as it helps to integrate music and sound as a healing modality.

Sparrowhawk - Awareness that opportunities that seem small on the surface have the potential for great growth and expansion over time. This Hawk helps us to see through to the heart of events and synchronicities that are trying to lead us to our greater goals and higher good. So often we ignore the smaller things in life because we can't see how they could possibly be of much use to us or help us to resolve a problem. Yet when we soar high above to see where they fit in the larger scheme of things, we see how they are a jumping off point that if it were not presented to us and pursued, we could not reach that we are truly seeking.

I dream a lot about animals. Recently there was a cheetah and it was one BIG cat! He bared his teeth like he was going to attack me, sniffed at me quickly and then slowly walked away. LOL Whew, thought I was going to be lunch there for a minute. Had another dream of being near a river or lake and there were just a few of us there cautiously watching the beautiful wildlife and dangerous animals. we stayed safe though.

The cheetah is the fastest cat on the planet and yet in your dream it was walking slowly....hmmm, Nighty...what is holding you back love?

Now that is interesting Goth. There has been a lot of family drama lately which is unusual in my family and I seem to be the middle man or ambassador or something trying to keep the peace. I need to be making my jewelry and doing things around the house and putting more applications in and...Hmmm, yes I am being held back by myself and my family. I think it's so cool how animals often come through in my dreams to express subconcious things.

Yes, I know what you mean, the other day I came home from work and a little house cat was suspiciously making tracks out of my yard. This little orange and white cat looked very guilty of some kind of a crime, as though he/she had taken something that wasn't his/hers to have. A day later I was walking around in my back yard and came across a big pile of feathers.

I guess some bird became kitty lunch.

Nope not the way that I would prefer to leave the world as how did you say a victim of a dangerous animal.

Funny how things are related in different ways but similar.

Lately at other places on the net there are a lot of people trying to meet up with other internet friends. Actually my thought was that it would be great to do just that have lunch some time... As things progress it might be possible, I'm not exactly sure, but it would be so neat to have a meet and greet and maybe do lunch or something.

I just sent off the order for a hearing with additional complaints against things happening between me and my loved ones.

Now to wait a few days and see what trouble develops.

Oh, poor birdy! Guess the cat was happy though.

That cat might have been happy, I saw him/her once more and the cat seemed more intent on getting goint kind of schizophrenic. Maybe the cat was looking for another bird? The cat should be wearing a hat, and maybe if I get a dog I could keep the cat away. So for the birds that are afraid of the cat I could get a dog to chase away the cat and maybe bring the birds back, maybe I need the cat in a hat? Or a little magic?

Or maybe the cat is feral and has been dumped by humans so has no choice but to do what comes naturally i.e. hunt for food for it's survival. A bell around the neck is a simple remedy for warning birds but that of course relies on a person to care enough about the cat as well as the wild life to attach one. Funny how there is usually a human element behind most destructive forces on this planet huh?

You have to watch those human elements.

Some are very destructive, the cat is doing what comes natural and I think it has a home so it is not so ferrel but to me it is strange and I to it so I'm not going to put a bell around it's neck I don't really care to chase the cat down to catch it, I'm not even sure I could, maybe a bowl of milk? Over time the cat might come to trust me enough to ruin it's hunting privileges belled and ringing. Nope I'm not up for that struggle for a distant animal that seems very shy.

Fleas! Yep, enough to make you itch huh? Well I was out looking at rental houses with a friend yesterday and I got attacked by fleas. Not just one or two or even a dozen but literally hundreds swarmed all over my legs...

Flea - Dependent Vampire

General Description:

All fleas are compressed laterally and are wingless, parasitic insects that subsist on blood. They have well-developed back legs in their mature stage that enables them to leap from host to host. Fleas have a sense organ on their bodies which is very sensitive to vibration and air currents. Fleas have multiple stages of complete metamorphosis, moving from eggs, to larvae, to pupa and then to adult. In their larval stages they avoid light and will survive off feathers, adult flea feces, hair and skin. Only the adult flea requires blood to survive. There are many different species of flea, some are cat-specific, human-specific, dog-specific etc. Each have different adaptations suited to this animal.

Lessons:

Please remember that if this animal is contacting you, it will often be the best resource for teaching you what its lessons are. What I write is only intended to be a guide, it is not absolute, nor is it infallible.

- If flea has come into your life as a guide (usually through biting us!) we are reminded to look after ourselves and our environment, and to practice vigilance. If we are lazy about how we look after ourselves, we can get physically, emotionally and spiritually harmed. We can even become seriously ill. Make sure you look after your environment and your body.

- Flea represents vampirism (emotional, physical, other). Flea suggests that we might be taking the energy from others - particularly those close to us - without even realising it. This vampirism is a sign of dependence upon others that can become unhealthy. We may also be preyed upon for energy, because we give our energy away too easily. Flea represents the dependent vampire, who will take from those he cares about most.

- Flea indicates a need for darkness and can represent the people who have an aversion to light. If flea has come into your life, it might be time to retreat into shelter, and take stock of your life. Fleas are highly sensitive to their environment, and you might find yourself overwhelmed by too much environmental stimuli. Quiet, dark places will heal you during the time that flea is around.

- Flea represents a time of accumulative damage. Flea bites are small, but the more we get, the more our health and immune system struggles. This accumulative damage can happen in other aspects of our life, small problems that never get sorted out add up until they become overwhelming. Look at each small problem in your life, and address them thoroughly to prevent a situation that feels uncontrollable.

- Fleas are adept at running away from their problems. It might be time for you to actually get away from a dangerous situation, if confrontation is no longer helping. Sometimes walking away is the healthiest thing we can do.

- Flea represents metamorphosis and rebirthing. When flea comes into our life, particularly in our dreams and visualisations, it is be time to turn over a new leaf and change our lifestyle. It is time to embrace change.

- When flea comes into our lives, it is time to assess whether we are hurting the ones we love, by either pulling on too many of their resources, using them emotionally, materially or spiritually, or if we're literally just taking away too much of their energy through never listening to them or giving them a chance to recharge.

- Finally flea represents blood wisdom. All aspects of blood, ancestry, knowledge, energy, wisdom etc. are part of the flea's domain. Indeed the domain of any animal that requires blood to survive. If you wish to understand blood memories, blood secrets and how to connect to your ancestry, a connection with flea may aid you.

If you have Flea as your Totem:

People with this animal as a totem will often manifest traits similar to the animal itself. I work on the philosophy that we only have one totem, and it teaches us lessons as well as representing the core aspects of our personality. Therefore -

- Flea people tend to be codependent, or in codependent relationships throughout their whole lives. They may be abusive, but usually just tend to be people who need the energy of other people and animals in order to live. One of their main lessons in life is to learn how give and take in a way that permits their partner or friends to survive emotionally and spiritually in long-term relationships. These people are able to get away from their problems with ease, which also means they may never confront some of the less savoury aspects of their behaviour. It is a rare person who will admit to having flea medicine, which is a powerful medicine for directing energy.

There will be other ways your totem manifests, and you will recognise them with awareness and communion.

As shadow guide/totem:

The shadow totem is the animal we often fear irrationally, that teaches us things about ourselves that are profound and difficult to confront. Often the traits we fear most within the shadow totem, are the traits that we dislike in ourselves. We must scrutinise why this is, and learn how to work with them.

- Well, I don't know many people who like flea, who seems to be far more common as a shadow totem, mainly because flea drinks blood. Flea attacks us, and threatens our physical well being, and the wellbeing of any pets we may have too. For this reason, we tend not to like flea, because flea reminds us that even when we are being vigilant there is a chance that we can be used for our resources and taken advantage of. Every part of our lives is constantly under threat, and the creatures that take from us, remind us of the humans that can take from us, and how life can put us in situations where we are taken advantage. It is important then, to learn that despite the constant threat of harm, we are able to live our lives as fully as possible. Fleas are a problem, but they are not the end of the world if we are vigilant and enjoy our lives. It is important to learn that flea reminds us of something positive, that despite harm, we are able to soldier on and lead fulfilling and wholesome lives.

- Those who hate flea are people who (understandably) tend to hate those around them who use and abuse people. They might know of people who vampiristically use their friends, they might never seem to give anything back. Hating these people is a response that enables us to protect ourselves from these people, but is it effective? And is hatred healthy? We need to confront this hatred, and understand the people what we may revile because of their decisions to use the people around them. Without understanding, we are left in a situation of ignorance and intolerance. We don't have to like their actions, but it is important to take the time to understand the motivations of using/abusing, and then understand why we don't do it.

Contacting Flea:

Like all animal helpers, this animal will only appear when right and appropriate, and cannot be forced to visit you, commune with you, or share messages with you. Flea can be contacted via meditation / visualisation / journeying and of course in real life. Flea can be a cryptic guide and teacher, but the lessons are valuable.

I love the little story played out between these totems and how it directly relates to the transformation that I have/am going through right now. My violent ex just tried to resurrect our relationship but I gave him short shift and retained my new healthy boundaries. I am also actively pursuing a new creative direction in life that has brought me so much clarity and joy.

I guess awareness plays a big part in working with animal totems. I mean, animals come and go in our lives and we don't really think too much about it but when we become aware of the deeper level to their meaning and actively connect with their stories, it can enrich our journeys to no end. The three mentioned in this post didn't just randomly cross my path - each one made a dramatic impact at the time so I had an 'a-ha!' moment that made me realise these were messengers. The toad appeared three times. The cricket twice, and the spiders...well first there was a very dangerous one that came in the backdoor of my house and then last night one the size of my hand almost crawled up my arm. Yeah, hard not to forget those type of encounters.

And again!!!

You really get some very interesting Totem Animals.

I was at a Harvest Festival a couple of weeks ago and there was a guy there with a many different animals and insects. The Centipede was ONE of them, well they were ALL there, ALL your totems. WOW!!!! COOL

One of the stranger things happened to me the other day, well Nov.30 to BE exact. A Lady drive into my driveway and asked if she could use my washroom to go pee. Never met or seen her BE-fore in my life, not this life time any-who. She started to tell me that a psychic had lead her here to my place and called the psychic by name, saying that she had passed over to the other side NOW and that she was guided here by her and that it was a sign. NOW if this had happened to any other, I Am sure most others would of looked at her alot differently and not understood where she was coming from. lol Weird, BE-cause I knew exactly who the psychic was that she was talking about. Me & my mate were the last two, to get readings from her and the last two to see her a-LIVE, BE-fore she passed on to the other side. This happened 14yrs ago, her passing. I had my first reading and meeting with her way back when I was 21yrs old and I Am still here today BE-cause of her, very low time for me at that point in my life BE-cause I wanted to jump off this merry-go-round and wasn't getting it, life that is, I wanted OUT. She was the first to HELP ME, help mys-ELF and BEgin my Journey here on earth. WOW !! !!

Well the washroom visit turned into about a 3hr stay and she left me with her fav. Totem Animal as a gift and sign for me. Well there was alot more then that, which I AM sure you already know.

So here I AM Swimming with the DOLPHIN as my Totem Animal NOW !! !!



Dolphin Medicine


Dolphin medicine represents the sacredness of all life and the abundance of the primordial sea. They are the gatekeepers to other realms and may teach us how to pass freely between this world and others. Dolphins carry this ability because they are mammals that live in the sea. They live in two worlds, the world of air and the world of water. Like Whales, Dolphins teach us how to remain open to living in more than one way and environment, this is especially helpful for those who feel they are living a dual lifestyle, for example the Accountant who is also a practicing Medium on the weekends!
Many of us are uncomfortable trying to step from one realm of life to another in this manner. We often feel we must hide our more unorthodox beliefs and practices out of fear that at best someone will think us a kook and at worst, we may lose our jobs. Dolphin medicine can show us ways in which we can come to terms with what the outside world expects of us and what we must do to remain true to ourselves! Dolphin may encourage us to begin looking at ways in which we can use the current career to help us step into doing full time that which we really love and desire to do so that we may be true to who we are at all times and not just when it is "safe" for us to do so! Or perhaps Dolphin energy may suggest that we begin looking for another employer who is more empathetic to our beliefs and may even ask that one share what one has learned with them and other employees! (I actually had a client to whom this happened after he began working with Dolphin medicine).

Dolphins are also extremely protective, they are well known for protecting other species, including humans by saving them from drowning and as such they can help to protect us when we call upon them for help and support. If you feel you are drowning under a sea of emotional or physical problems, financial debt, illness, fears, what ever the cause may be you can call upon the Dolphin realms to help you get your head above water. One way of doing this is to find a picture of a Dolphin or a figurine, any that you feel attracted to will do, and write your request down on paper and place it underneath the Dolphin. I also like to give whom ever I am asking help from some token of appreciation and payment. This may include a few shiny pennies, some Tobacco, a bowl of essences or essential oils diluted in water, incense, what ever feels right and appropriate to you is fine. It is your intention to give something back that is most important, not the actual token itself! Donating money to a enviromental cause that is important to you is another wonderful way of giving something back in Thanks! Yet which ever token you choose to give, once it has been given and you have made your request, LET IT GO! Perhaps spend a moment in quiet visualization seeing yourself on the edge of a beautiful shore, Dolphins swimming towards you in the surf. You wade out to meet them, noting how cool and clear the water feels as it laps gently against you. Feel the cleansing power of the sea and the love and support that is coming to you from the Dolphin realms! As the Dolphins approach, you can float the paper with your request to them or even create a symbol that the sea will wash out to them. At times working with symbols can be more even more effective as they bypass any belief systems you may have that your request will not be answered. Use your own intuition and guidance to determine what is best for you! Next ,see your Dolphin pod taking your request or symbol and surrounding it, carrying it out into the Universal Flow where it may be healed. Your job at this point is simply to pay attention to the signs the Universe wll begin sending you that healing and resolution is on the way! Pay close attention as sometimes things don't appear as we think they ought. Keep an open mind and heart, trust that the Universe IS working on your behalf as it is, always and in all ways! Most people who have worked with this visualization in the past have started to see results within three days. Yet give it time, watch for the signs, act on your own inner guidance, be open to receive healing and if you feel resistance in any form, call again upon the Dolphins to help you remain open. All you have to do is state your request clearly and they will hear you and respond.

Because of their protective nature, Dolphins are wondeful medicine to call upon when you are in an area where you feel unsafe. If you must walk alone at night, call upon a pod of Dolphins to surround and protect you. The more you can feel their energy around you and you will with practice, the more they will be able to protect and keep you safe! Those who live so called "alternative lifestyles" such as Gays and Lesbians may also want to call upon Dolphins for support and protection! Dolphins do not judge, they do not condemn, they seek only to enlighten all of us that we are one and what is done to one, is done to all!

Dolphins are also very sexual creatures, they have been known to mate just for the sheer joy of it! For those who carry feelings of guilt or shame about their own sexual natures, Dolphins can help them release those feelings and understand that Spirit in all it's wisdom knew what he/she was doing when sex was created! Sex can help one stay younger longer, improves physical and mental as well as emotional health, is valuable as a stress reliever as well as sharing intimacy to bond even more strongly with one's partner. Dolphins tend to touch one another frequently, and science has found that touching is such a strong means of bonding that the more often people hug and touch their loved ones, the stronger the support each member feels and the healthier every one is! Because of this Dolphin can teach us that the way to heal rifts is by being willing to be open to touching and receiving touching from those we love. Obviously the touching must be done in appropriate ways, yet who couldn't do without a daily hug or pat on the back!

For those who have been sexually abused Dolphin can be called upon to help heal the damage that has been caused. Dolphins because of their strong bonds to other pod members can call in those folks through whom one can feel safe and okay about being touched because it is coming from a space of unconditional love and with the highest intent at heart! Dolphin people for this reason are fabulous healers for those who have been sexually or physically abused, and may even have been abused themselves. Yet because these people carry such strong unconditional love for all and are often very wise in understanding that everything can be used to create a higher level of being for all, they are able to find ways to move past their own pain so they can help reach and heal others. Bless them, these folks have often seen so much and yet they are able to respond back to the world with love and compassion, even as Dolphins in the sea are able to respond in loving and supportive ways to humans though humans have not always been so kind to them!

We are amazingly powerful beings! If there is any one thing that I have always felt Dolphins would love for us to know it is this: We CAN change our lives by paying attention to what we are communicating to ourselves and others! We are constantly sending forth messages in one form or another and some of those messages are obviously not in our best interests or the world would be a much happier place to be! Have you ever watched a pod of Dolphins at play? It's amazing, the way they frolic in the sea, calling back and forth, chirping and clicking in joy. They even LOOK like they are smiling much of the time! I believe this is how they have managed to survive, even with the pollution we have dumped into our oceans, even with the ways in which many humans have shown a tragic disregard for all forms of life. Dolphins are still able to find and communicate that note of joy and there are many who are starting to listen!

If Dolphin has appeared for you, ask yourself the following: what am I communicating? Am I finding things to be happy about or is all I am seeing are the problems I currently am facing in life? What have I been wanting to create in my life but I feel I am too old, too young, not enough money, not good enough, not worthy of having that creation manifest? Have I been listening to my inner guidance or do I ignore it in hopes an answer I like better will come along? Have I asked for help from my own "pod" or am I always trying to go it alone? Dolphins rely heavily on their pod members for safety and finding food as well as companionship. If you don't have a circle of support perhaps Dolphin has appeared to tell you to start asking for your own Pod to appear! Yet you must ASK, you must communciate what you are needing and wanting in any form that feels right to you before the Universe can bring you what you desire! Begin a creative project of some sort, writing, painting, creating music, learning dance, sculpting or starting a garden are just a few ways that you can put your creative skills to use. Don't think you are very "creative"? Think again! Perhaps what you need to recognize is that you have created a wonderful home for your family or are talented at inspiring others to be the best that they can be!

The following is from two different newsletters. While searching for the Dolphin oracle information I originally wanted to include from another newsletter I found the following which seems to be especially appropriate!

Dolphin is about new promise and hope, of allowing our innate creativity to shine forth and create a new reality for ourselves at this time. Spring is well and truly underway and what we need to be asking ourselves is “ what new life do I wish to bring forth at this time”? It takes a pinch of dreaming, a dab of planning and heaps of trust and love to birth this new life but now is the time. Dolphins communicate constantly with one another, they sing their songs, emit clicks and then wait to see what returns to them in the form of sound. Again this is a sign that we too need to be asking the Universe for what we want out loud, through song, prayer or simply talking out loud as though to a dear friend. Then we need to shut up and listen! We can’t hear the answers if we are still busy chatting away so speak your piece and then stop: What are others saying to you? What conversations are you overhearing as you wait in the queue? What me ssages through books, emails, even advertisements are jumping out at you? What does the wind say? Remember, among Native Americans the wind is the voice and breath of Spirit so heed what messages you receive when you relax your mind and listen to the breeze blowing through the trees. I remember several months ago walking down 8th avenue and looking up at a billboard advertising a new Southpark show. It said playtime is over, the kids are graduating to fourth grade. That really stuck in my mind, later on I was to realize why. It’s the little as well as the big things that the Universe uses to respond to our requests, to give us guidance and hope for the present and future. Another important message that Dolphin brings to us at this time comes from Ted Andrews, the creator of the Animal Wise Tarot and author of several fine books; “ The appearance of Dolphin within our life can reflect unexpected altruistic behaviour towards us by others”. It is a message to be open to receiving this help from others and to allow ourselves to be supported by the waters of life.


Dolphin Oracle Meditation


Here’s what you do: Close your eyes, relax as much as you can and visualize yourself swimming in the sea with a pod of Dolphins. Several of them come close to you and you ask them a question that has been bothering you or maybe you need some extra guidance on the next step you need to take. You have an idea but need a yes or no answer ( I suspect later on that they will teach me how to handle more complex questions using this method). Ask your question now. Keeping your eyes on the Dolphins what are they doing? A nod of the head up and down means yes, from side to side no. If a Dolphin rears up and begins tracking through the water backwards on it’s tail it means that you need to proceed forward not worrying whether you are doing the right thing or not, it’s a time of moving with faith and allowing a higher force to steer you. You may not be able to see where you are going but the more faith you can muster that your path is being cleared, you will suddenly find that you have arrived when you least expected it! If one or more Dolphins begins swimming to the left of you this means that there is something that needs to be cleared from your past before a “yes” answer can be given. If you ask at that point for a symbol or vision of what that is, you will receive one and then it is up to you to figure out what it means but they will leave plenty of clues in your path! Movement to the right of you indicates that future events have not quite jelled enough yet for manifestation which is good news: it means you still have plenty of time to become very clear about what you want and need, then you can go back into this meditation and hand that as a sort of parcel, nicely done up in wrapping paper and ribbon if you choose, give it to the Dolphins and they will insert it into the future so it will manifest for you at the right place and time. If the Dolphins star swimming in circles this means you are being like Coyote and chasing your own tail which is keeping you stuck. Again you need to parcel the problem or question up, hand it to the Dolphins and let them swim away from you heading in a straight line in front on you. They may return within this same meditation or later on, you need to trust though that what is happening is moving you out of the way so they and the Universe can sort things out for you. This would be an excellent time to reach for Dolphin Getting Out Of Your Own Way as well! You may find yourself being surrounded by the Dolphins and them nudging you to just swim with them. I feel this is an especially wonderful gift and time for you if this happens as they will be leading you to something you have only thought could happen in your wildest dreams or to a wonderful surprise so keep an open mind! Let them lead the way as they have your highest good and greatest joy at heart. These are the basics and as I say there may be more over time, but the most important thing is to play with this, have fun with it! The Dolphins always come from a place of joy and happiness, and that’s where they desire to lead all of us!

Always there is so much more that can be said about any totem and the above is just a small sampling of what Dolphin Medicine has to teach us. Work with the Dolphins one on one yourself, ask them for support and guidance and listen to your heart and Soul for that is where the Dolphins love most to connect with us!
